Happy Birthday to Vine: The App Officially Turns One
Today officially marks the one-year anniversary for the micro-video app Vine – Happy Birthday to Vine! Proving that consumers now have shorter and shorter attention spans, Vine is famous for its 6-second videos and cult-like following. Parent company Twitter acquired Vine in October of 2012 and officially launched the app on January 24, 2013.
With just one year under its belt, Vine boasts roughly 40 million users and millions of Vine videos. Many of which have become viral hits or make Vine superstars out of high schoolers goofing around with their friends and one hilarious dad wearing a Batman mask.
Vine is just another social media platform, like Instagram, YouTube, and Snapchat, that proves that we love visual content in any form. Photos and videos are one of the most powerful avenues to reach your audiences and major brands everywhere are taking advantage.
Brands like Sephora, Target, and Volkswagen have all utilized the virility that Vine’s short videos have to offer, showing us that it’s all about being quick, clever, and delivering an instant message to your customers that inspires them to take action. Check out these videos to see what we mean:
